Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
As I watch all that is unfolding in the US election campaign, I notice my feelings of anxiety, rage building. It seems a little crazy to me that I am so invested, but when I got curious, and I see the problem. Why does a man whose entire campaign is the antithesis of the Golden Rule. have any supporters. He represents the exact opposite of the famous quote "Government of the people, for the people, by the people, shall not perish from the earth," by Abraham Lincoln. I am so uncomfortable because I feel the same feelings I felt when I was assaulted - disempowered by someone I believe I should trust. Trump reminds me that there are people in a world who thrive on hurting and shaming others if it makes them look and feel good. I want to believe we live in a world where we follow the Golden Rule. Where we see possibility and build each other up, not take each other down. Where we choose respect and kindness. Not war.
