As I sit basking in the heat of Costa Rica, my email reveals to me words I do not want to hear. The words themselves do not matter. It is the nature of my reaction that grabs me. I feel my face flush, my body tense. My shoulders move toward my ears.
This is real, my mind tells me. Be afraid. Be very afraid! And I am.
Then I remember to breathe.
